ERIKA PAOLA GUTIÉRREZ RODRÍGUEZ

MY STORY
I was born in Bogotá in 1984, I spent half of my childhood in the USA, returned to Colombia, completed my high school education, and began my career as a doctor. I studied general medicine at the Universidad de la Sabana and graduated as an Aesthetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon from FUCS (Foundation of Health Sciences). I have completed advanced courses in rhinoplasty, doing a Fellowship with Dr. Froilán Páez - Fusion Rhinoplasty and training with the Otolaryngology Society - Rhinoplasty The New Era, where I shared knowledge with world-renowned figures such as Froilán Páez, Cristian Cordero, Sercan Gode, and Miguel Hidalgo. (live surgeries, cadaver dissection, and advanced high-complexity training)
In 2021, I founded NAHA Medical Center with the purpose of transforming lives through excellent surgical procedures. For me, plastic surgery is a tool that allows each person to enhance their confidence and well-being, always respecting their unique essence.

CLEFT LIP AND PALATE
My true passion is helping those who need it most, especially when it comes to children. I actively participate in medical brigades specialized in reconstructive surgery for patients with cleft lip and palate who, for various reasons, have not been able to receive timely care. This includes both families living in remote rural areas and high-complexity cases that require specialized intervention..
Our patients range from babies as young as 3 months old to elderly individuals. We have conducted medical brigades in cities such as Neiva and Cartagena, and we maintain a continuous aid program that includes the transportation of patients to Bogotá for surgical intervention at the Simón Bolívar Hospital.
This work led us to lead the implementation of the comprehensive cleft lip and palate program at Simón Bolívar Hospital, thus consolidating our commitment to the specialized care of this condition.

SIMON BOLIVAR HOSPITAL
Since 2022, I have been working in the largest burn unit in Latin America, performing high-complexity reconstructions. I have focused on craniofacial reconstruction, which has allowed me to gain significant experience in managing this type of pathology. I perform reconstructions for facial traumas and manage patients with cleft lip and palate.
UNIVERSITY TEACHER
Since 2023, I have been working as a professor in the plastic surgery program at the University of Sinú. I believe that academic training is the best way to give back to society, as these students will be the plastic surgeons of the future. For this reason, I focus on training them with solid foundations, ethical principles, and a deep human awareness, thus preserving the integrity of our noble profession.
My methodology includes practical workshops and specialized lectures in areas such as facial reconstruction, management of facial trauma, correction of cleft lip and palate, and advanced techniques in facial aesthetic surgery. Through this comprehensive teaching, I aim to convey not only technical knowledge but also the fundamental values that should guide practice. de la cirugía plástica.

GENDER DYSPHORIA
Gender dysphoria is a condition where the individual experiences distress and discomfort due to the incongruence between their biological sex at birth and their gender identity. Gender-affirming surgery allows these patients to develop better body acceptance and facilitates their reintegration into work and social environments.
For many people, this surgery represents a crucial step that helps align their physical appearance with their true gender identity.
I perform masculinization or feminization surgeries in different areas: in the chest through mastectomies or breast augmentations, and in the face through forehead reduction (bone and skin), brow reshaping, malar repositioning, rhinoplasty, and reconstruction of the mandibular angles and chin through augmentation or reduction..
My greatest reward is seeing how this surgery transforms the lives of my patients: they feel more fulfilled, they reactivate their social and personal lives, and with each intervention, I bring greater well-being and joy to their lives..

ACADEMY
As part of my continuing education, I publish specialized medical articles in plastic surgery and participate as a speaker at academic events aimed at residents from across the country, promoting socio-academic exchange and sharing my clinical and hospital experience.
Currently, I am conducting research on the fat membrane method to improve severe wounds in burn and trauma patients, as well as for facial volumization in lifting procedures. This work has been presented at the National Congress of Plastic Surgery of the Colombian Society and at the Aesthetic Congress in Argentina..
